LESYA TESLYA
ARTIST BIO
Lesya Teslya is a Ukrainian visual artist and contemporary photographer, born in 1982 in Kryzhopil, Ukraine. After living in Paris for nine years, she currently lives and works in the Kyiv region, Ukraine.
Her artistic practice explores emotional states, the fragility of the human psyche, and the relationship between the human body and its surrounding environment. Her work engages with vulnerability,
memory, presence and absence, as well as the shifting boundaries between the human and the natural.
Teslya began studying photography in 2019 at the Kyiv School of Photography and later continued her education at MYPH School of Conceptual and Art Photography and Form Photo Academy in France,
where she developed her conceptual approach to the medium.
Working across analogue and digital photography, as well as lomographic and experimental techniques, she creates images situated between reality and imagination. Her practice explores perception, identity,
and the ways in which inner states can be translated through the body, landscape, and photographic image.
Her work has been exhibited internationally in France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. She was selected for the Fresh Eyes International Talents Program in 2023 and received the Gold
Medal of the National Union of Photographers of Ukraine in 2022. Her work has been featured in international photography publications and platforms including PhotoVogue, LensCulture, LFI Magazine,
ARTDOC Photography Magazine, MYPH, and PX3.
